Common Core State Standards

Developed by the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are designed to give teachers a clear understanding of what skills students need to learn in order to succeed in the 21st century.

At each grade level, the standards outline expectations for student achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and common adoption across states ensures that students from all communities can be competitive in the global economy.

Fourscore provides teachers with instructional resources and trusted informational texts, so that they can meet these new rigorous standards and so that more students are college and career ready when they leave the classroom.

These tasks, which have been built by Social Studies and ELA master teachers, use proven instructional strategies that can be differentiated and adopted to meet the level of any students. They provide insight into the teaching of crucial skills, such as sourcing documents, analyzing texts and building argument, that are not just requirements of the new CCSS curriculum, but are excellent pedagogical practices.

These tasks are curated with our website content, but can be replicated into other disciplines with any content.

The Common Core State Standards have been adopted by 45 states and the District of Columbia, and districts are currently in the process of implementing them. For more information about the Common Core State Standards, please visit www.corestandards.org.
